Anoka, MN (KROC AM News) - What had been a shooting investigation involving a Twin Cities teenager has become a murder case that involves another teen.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office is reporting 15-year-old Anthony Rouse of Blaine was declared dead Tuesday as a result of his injuries. He had been taken to the hospital Sunday evening after being shot and doctors say he “sustained catastrophic injury to his brain due to lack of oxygen and blood flow.”

The sheriff’s office says a 17-year-old male was taken into custody Sunday and he has now been charged with 2nd-degree murder.

The criminal complaint filed by the Anoka County Attorney’s Office indicates the shooting took place after Rouse and two friends had stopped to buy some marijuana in Fridley. While they were talking to a man, the suspect appeared with a gun and told them they were being robbed. The driver of the van the three were in began driving away and that’s when the suspect fired 5 rounds at the open passenger sliding door area. Rouse was in the back seat and was hit in the neck and shoulder. His friends drove him to the hospital.

Police were able to obtain surveillance video from the scene and it captured the entire incident, including the shooting.

Charged in the case is Isaiah Harold-Stephaun Holmes, who is expected to be prosecuted as an adult.

News update:  Another SE Minnesota County is reporting an EAB infestation.
