The Owatonna Foundation Has Over $15,000 Available In Nontraditional Scholarships
It comes as no revelation that college is expensive. In fact, each year tuition gets more and more outlandish.
The Owatonna Foundation is delighted to make $15,000 available to aid students who are pursuing a technical career by attending non-four-year programs at a technical or community college.
Applications are due June 25th and are available here. The scholarships are for the 2021 fall semester.
Laura Resler, Executive Director of the Foundation, revealed:
“We are excited to be offering these scholarships. Currently, there is a lot of demand for skilled workers both in and out of Owatonna. Students graduating from these programs can earn good wages and not have a lot of debt when they enter the workforce at the time of their graduation. The Foundation has always recognized the contributions of these workers to our local industry and is proud to be supportive of their education.”
Resler could not have summed it up better. The demand is VERY HIGH for skilled workers, and trade workers can create a very comfortable lifestyle after college due to the great salary wages.
To be eligible, recipients must have an Owatonna mailing address or have worked at an Owatonna business for the last two years. In addition, each recipient must have completed high school or a GED before or with the class of 2020.
Scholarships range in value from $500 to $3,000 each. Previous award receivers have pursued accounting, agriculture, business, carpentry, child development, construction electrician, cosmetology, culinary arts, dental hygiene, EMT/paramedic, nursing, radiography, and many other fields.
The options are extensive!
