I've been spammed lately on social media by this candle company that claims their candles will remind you of where you are from based on the scents within them. The company is called homesick and they have a bunch of states and city scents held within their candles. I clicked, so I'm sure I'll see more of their targeted ads soon and wanted to see what they thought Minnesota smelled like in a candle. Would you believe "baked apples, puff pastry, fresh cypress, and spicy notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and a touch of fragrant clove"?

Where's the bonfire scent? How about fresh cut grass? Venison jerky? Tator-tot hotdish? New snowmobile exhaust? No corn on the cob smell, or Lutefisk? I mean there are much more Minnesotan smells than what amounts to an apple pie at a Christmas tree farm.

So after seeing what was listed as a Minnesota scented candle, I went and clicked on a few others to see what was listed as scents.

New York City: Bergamot, Lemon, Grapefruit, Floral, Concrete, Oakmoss, and Sandalwood

Iowa: Cumin, Eucalyptus, Nutmeg, Tea Tree, Curry, Cinnamon, Ginger, Clove, and Cardamom.

Wisconsin: Butter, Cream, Maple, Cranberry, Cinnamon, Winter Air, and Peppermint. [note: no cheese, despair, or beer scents AND it's sold out]
