Tons of Free Entertainment at the 2024 Steel County Free Fair
The Steele County Free Fair has so much to offer when it comes to free entertainment. Adults and children can enjoy a full week of fun and laughs through this Sunday, August 18th.
US Bank and RE/MAX Venture brings Jurassic Kingdom to the fair for three shows daily, beginning at 8 pm Tuesday and continuing Wednesday through Sunday at 2, 5 and 8 pm. Jurassic Kingdom’s life-sized dinosaur puppets include their newest dinosaur Blue; Terry, the talking Pterodactyl; Jack, the 2-month-old Brontosaurus; Newborn Triceratops Sarah; Full-grown, 5-year-old Velociraptor Lucy; and Sparky, a 2-year-old T-Rex.
The Southwest Dairy Farmers Mobile Dairy Classroom, sponsored by Steele County American Dairy Association, Commerce Bank and Compeer Financial, returns to the Steele County Fair. The Mobile Dairy Classroom is a 32-foot classroom featuring a fully operational milking parlor. The classroom presentation includes a live cow, the milking process and stresses the importance of dairy foods in a healthy diet. The mobile classroom is open daily during the fair.
The Hot Glass Blowing Academy is sponsored by Kottke Jewelers and Pirkl Gas and is a one-of-a-kind glassblowing demonstration that provides energetic and dynamic entertainment with educational value through an art form that is over 3,000 years old. Fairgoers can watch as beautiful pieces of art are created that will become part of the history of blown glass.
Alexander Lumber Company brings to the fair the Robinson Carving Company. The Robinson family has been creating sculptures with their chainsaws for the past two decades. They will be doing 3-4 shows daily with a new sculpture being created at each show. This year’s carvings will be auctioned off at 5 pm Saturday in front of the Wenger Fair Square Stage. All proceeds will be donated to the Owatonna Foundation.
The All-Star Stunt Dogs Show, sponsored by Fleet Farm, Bushel Boy, Cargill, Farmer’s Feed and Pet Supply and Thrivent Financial, is a must-see show that will entertain people of all ages. From back flips, paw stands, and big air stunts to amazing tricks – these dogs are thrilling the nation! Performances begin at 5 pm on Tuesday and will continue from Wednesday through Sunday at noon, 3 and 6 pm.
The High-Flying Pages are America’s premier flying trapeze aerial troupe and are appearing at the fair courtesy of sponsors Deml Heating & Cooling and Fireplace Connection. America’s “premier aerial group” will have spectators on the edge of their seats as they race motorcycles inside the Globe of Death. Daily shows kick off at 6 pm on Tuesday; Wednesday and Thursday shows are at 4 and 7 pm; and bring in the weekend with three shows daily at 1, 4 and 7 pm Friday through Sunday.
The show is a blend of comedy, daredevil juggling, fire-breathing, strength, and balance. It’s a high energy performance involving danger, mixed with a good deal of comedy. The Florida-based group appears at fairs, festivals, and other events throughout the country.
