The Minnesota Vikings will be looking to build on last week's win when they face the San Francisco 49ers today at U.S. Banks Stadium in Week 2 of the new NFL season.

The Vikings are coming off a 28-6 victory over the Giants last week in New York in the season opener.

Not only will the Vikings be looking for their second win to open the season, but Minnesota quarterback Sam Darnold will be getting his second start under center for the Vikes, with today's game coming against the team he played for last year as backup to Brock Purdy.

For the Vikings, wide receiver Jordan Addison is 'out' with an ankle injury. Safety Harrison Smith, offensive tackle Brian O'Neill, and offensive guard Ed Ingram are all listed as 'questionable.'

For the 49er, running back Christian McCaffrey is 'out' today. Safety Talanoa Hufanga is listed as 'doubtful,' and linebacker Dee Winters is 'questionable' for today's matchup.

Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold is playing for his fourth team in five years, after being selected third overall by the New York Jets in the 2018 draft. in 2021 Darnold was traded to the Carolina Panthers. After two seasons in Charlotte, Darnold was dealt to the 49ers where he backed up Brock Purdy last season.
