When Will This Now ‘Infamous’ Southern Minnesota Dairy Queen Open Back Up?
With Memorial Day marking the official start of summer, those in search of some Dilly Bars or Blizzards in Owatonna are still having to travel elsewhere as the now-viral and infamous Dairy Queen located there is still closed, or temporarily closed as their social media and website indicate.
I sent an email to the ownership group, Fourteen Foods, asking when and if the Owatonna location would be opening back up, and am still awaiting a response from them.
In terms of why the Owatonna location is closed, back in later January, staff at that location filmed employees taking a customer's order to the front door, and then tossing it on the concrete outside, resulting in the waiting customer falling to the ground as she kicked at the fallen food. The employees on the video are then heard laughing as they close the door on the fallen woman.
A pinned post on the Owatonna Dairy Queen's social media page indicated on February 1st the incident was being investigated and that the store wouldn't be opened back up until that investigation was done.
Fourteen Foods shares your concerns about what was shown in the video this past Sunday. We are in the process of conducting an internal investigation, including talking with employees at the restaurant, reviewing security footage, and talked with the customer in the video yesterday. Know that we are taking this matter extremely seriously. The store will remain closed until the investigation is complete. Our number one goal is to be able to continue to serve the Owatonna community to the best of our ability. - Dairy Queen Grill & Chill (670 W Bridge St, Owatonna, MN) via Facebook
Fast-forward nearly four months and the store is still closed and people online are still wondering if and when the restaurant will open back up.
If Fourteen Foods responds to our request for a possible opening date we will update this with their response.
