Why Is This Popular Restaurant In Northfield Closing Next Week?

For those who enjoy grabbing a meal at the Quarterback Club in Northfield, you better get your fix before they close next week. The Northfield staple will be closing its doors beginning next week for some repairs, and the hope is for the restaurant to be back open just a few weeks later.

A post to social media from the restaurant and then shared by several area organizations details the why behind the closing, and gives patrons an idea of when the restaurant will be back open for business.

The post from the Quarterback Club says:

The Quarterback Club will be closed for repairs for hopefully no more than 2 weeks, starting on Monday, March 14th. We want to make some improvements to our kitchen that will not allow us to be open for this period. We are replacing our furnace, putting in a new cooler, updating our electrical panel, and putting in a new ceiling with energy-efficient lighting. We will post to Facebook when we think we will be ready to reopen. Hope to see you soon!!

The restaurant has been in operation since 1967 and has been a tradition for many on game day to stop by for a burger either coming or going from a Carleton or St. Olaf football game.

According to the restaurant's website: "The Quarterback Club in Northfield was started in 1967. At the time it was part of a franchise partly owned by a few players from the Minnesota Vikings. In the mid-'70s all the Quarterback Club restaurants had been sold off or closed. The Northfield location remained open and grew into a Northfield and surrounding area favorite; serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Club has a wide variety of menu items to choose from, yet we are known best for our delicious Broasted Chicken, and great BBQ Baby Back Pork Ribs."
