I usually am able to sleep through anything and everything, but, this morning that was not the case. Severe storms rolled through our area, bringing hail, thunder, and lots and lots of rain. I looked out my windows and it looked like monsoon season was upon us. My phone kept going off with weather alert after weather alert. Well, we were under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for a while, but that has lapsed. In fact, when I left the house the sun was already out. I am so glad I mowed my lawn yesterday.

I did see hail this morning, pea-sized, and the sound of the rain hitting my air conditioner had me a little concerned. And yes, it was the rain, I didn't see a lot of hail, not on the north side of Owatonna.

I went to my Facebook page and got to see several pictures of the downtown area flooding, rain gauges with more than 1.5 inches of rain in them, and a couple of videos. I did not get any of my own pictures, I was too busy watching and yes, enjoying a good old-fashioned thunderstorm. You can click here if you want to see some great amateur pictures, in the Steele County Skywarn group. Rice County also has a Skywarn page, here.

I enjoy the storms, so I am glad the rolling thunder woke me up. Stay sky aware today, there is another chance for severe weather later tonight, with the possibility of another inch or more of rain. I did not find an official amount of rainfall this morning, most places seem to agree that we got at least 1.5 inches of rain, if not more.
