Craig Biorn, 1979 graduate of Zumbrota High School received the 2021 Brightside Empirical Review Award for his acrylic paintings of landscape and abstract work.

Biorn painted the covers of two true story books he has authored which he speculates brought his work to the attention of the Brightside Board in Florida where he now lives.

Last spring we spoke with him about the book "Bilan's Journey of Hope" about his wife Bilan's fleeing war-torn Somalia to come to the United States.

A few months later his other book "Bah Bah for Barbara" was released.  It's the story about his Mom showing her lamb Rosie at the 1957 Goodhue County Fair in Zumbrota, Mn.

The book talks about many Barbara Luhman's experiences that summer on their farm in Goodhue, Mn.

Rosie escaped her pen, got injured, other adventures occurred that are told in this easy to read book that is available by ordering from Biorn's website. craigbiorn.com

Artwork is available there as well if you are interested.

I first met Craig in 2000 when he contacted me about his horse Zumbrota's Tiger running at Canterbury Park race track in Shakopee, Mn.

We arranged to do a AM Minnesota program at Canterbury where we talked to various people involved with the race track.

After the show on July 15, 2000 I stayed to watch Zumbrota's Tiger win the 4th race and Craig asked me to join his family and others in the winner's circle.

It was a very interesting day.
