If you rent farm land or rent it out, there are two more local opportunities to learn what is a fair rental agreement. The University of Minnesota Extension has been conducting workshops around the state addressing this topic.

There will be one on November 30 in the 4-H building on the Rice County Fairgrounds in Faribault starting at 9AM. There will then be another meeting on November 30 in the Steele County Community Center in Owatonna starting at 1PM.

Farm land rental rates have started to lower as corn and soybean prices continue lower in 2017. Topics covered at both meetings will include local historic and projected farmland rental rate trends along with current farm land values and sales. There will also be a worksheet to help you determine a fair rental agreement.

David Bau and Nathan Hulinsky, Extension Educators in Ag Business Management will lead the discussions.
