The Dari-Ette Drive-In located in East St. Paul, a long-standing favorite among many Minnesota families from both near and far, closed its doors for the last time on Saturday, what comes next is anyone's guess.

Fox 9 in the Twin Cities reported over the weekend that the staple East Saint Paul eatery was closing up Saturday, ending the run of the family-run business at 70 years.

Angela Fida, the owner of the Dari-Ette Drive-In told Fox 9, "We built a reputation on our recipes. If the sun was out there’d be no place [to park] here, you know, it’d be packed. We’ve turned into not just the neighborhood place but a destination from all-around."

The land that the Dari-Ette is on has been sold, and there will be something replacing the Drive-In in time, but the memories that were made over 70 years will still be with all those who took the time to enjoy the drive-in. It might have been a first-date, maybe a tradition to go to on the weekend with friends and family, or maybe it was the food that made you think you were back home. Whatever the memory you have, that itself won't be going anywhere.

The Dari-Ette's closing also marks another sad chapter in Saint Paul, the drive-in was Saint Paul's last remaining drive-in.

Those looking for a drive-in experience will now have to head over to Brooklyn Park for Wagner's Drive-In, or Spring Park for the Minnetonka Drive-In.
