Albert Lea Man Charged With Setting Woman On Fire
Albert Lea, MN (KROC AM News) - An Albert Lea man is accused of setting a woman on fire, leaving her with serious burns.
And the house where the incident happened was apparently destroyed.
Albert Lea police officers and firefighters were called to a house fire Wednesday morning and found the woman suffering from numerous burns. She told officers she was in a sexual relationship with 38-year-old Logan Netzer and the two got into an argument when he called her by another woman’s name.
The criminal complaint also says another person told officers Netzer and the woman got into an argument the night before because he “wanted to spend time with his wife.”
The victim says Netzer threw “an accelerant on her and lit her on fire” with a butane torch. The victim says her pants began burning and she “rolled on the ground to try and put the fire out.” She eventually removed her pants and went into a detached garage where officers found her.
The woman was airlifted to a Twin Cities burn unit. The criminal complaint says she “sustained 3rd-degree burns to her hands and other minor burns to other portions of her body. “ It was determined the burns covered 12-percent of her body and that she also lost some skin on her hands. The house also caught fire during the incident and is considered a total loss.
Netzer was arraigned Wednesday on a 1st-degree assault charge.
