What would Owatonna High School sports sound like on-air without Brad Fischer? Fortunately, we won't have to find out. Even though Fischer is leaving his sales position at KRFO/Kat Kountry/Townsquare Media, he will continue to broadcast Huskies sports.

Fischer's roots are as a small businessman in Owatonna with Fischer Sports and Specialty Apparel. He is looking forward to being an advocate for small business as Membership Director for the Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism. In the "Tuesday Talk" e-newsletter from the chamber, OACCT President Brad Meier says, "Brad brings many years of business experience-welcome Brad!" Fischer's new position will begin June 3.

The chamber job will be part-time, allowing Fischer to put extra time into his sports apparel business, "I've been a small business owner for over 30 years and my heart lies with small business owners and hopefully I can help them succeed."

Fischer has been a radio sale executive at KRFO for the last eight years. When Jim Gleason was leaving the station to work with the Steele County Fair, he called Fischer and recommended he look into the radio job.

He was no stranger to the radio station. Fischer will begin his 35th year of covering Owatonna High School sports this fall. As an OHS grad, he was looking into a sale job with KRFO after graduating from Gustavus Adolphus College when then-owner Todd Hale asked if he would like to work a football game with John Connor. The two covered the Indians game against Red Wing and a passion was born.

Fischer is thrilled to continue to have the opportunity to cover high school sports, "People know how important my hometown is to me. Go Huskies!"
