Data From Google Trends Reveals Minnesota’s Favorite Fair Food Isn’t Sweet Martha’s Cookies
I have no way of proving it, but I think most people ate more fair-food this last summer than they would have during a typical year. Yes, the Minnesota State Fair and county fairs were canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but there were fair food trucks everywhere all summer long. I hope you got your fill of funnel cakes and pronto pups. If you didn't, you could try to score tickets to the Minnesota State Fair Fall Food Parade which is happening October 8th-11th. The event is sold out, but I have seen people selling their tickets on Facebook and eBay.
You might be surprised to learn that Minnesota's favorite fair-food isn't Sweet Martha's Cookies or Pronto Pups or even Funnel Cakes. The most popular food for fair-goers here in the land of 10,000 lakes is onion rings. This according to Gurney's Seed and Nursery. They studied Google Trends search data for popular fair food across all 50 states. Read more and check out the favorite fair-foods of other states here.
By the way, the Minnesota State Fair has announced its dates for 2021. The Great Minnesota Get Together will happen August 26th through Labor Day next summer. And despite what data from Google Trends says, people will be going for chocolate chip cookies. Sweet Martha's is consistently the highest-earning State Fair vendor, check out the others below.
