The Faribault Falcon girls hockey team now has 11 wins on the season.  Three of them have come against the Rochester John Marshall Rockets.  They defeated John Marshall in Rochester, in Faribault, now in the Austin Tournament in a game that does not count in the conference standings.  Wednesday night Olivia Williamson and Ellie Knutson each scored two goals in the Falcons 6-5 victory..

There were not many penalties in this game.  Faribault was 0 for 1 on the power play and John Marshall 1 for 1 according to the official score sheet.  No Faribault penalty is listed on the game sheet but a goal scored by the Rockets in the third period is listed as a power play goal.  The Falcons defeated John Marshall November 24th 5-1 and December 6th 9-3.

John Marshall started the scoring 4:28 into the game and less than three minutes later junior Olivia Williamson tallied her 23rd goal of the season with an assist to Abigail Goodwin.  John Marshall answered 2:20 after the Falcon goal to take a 2-1 lead before Faribault reeled off three more goals to take a 4-2 lead after the first period.

11:58 Williamson scored her second goal again assisted by Goodwin (11).  At 14:43 Ellie Knutson scored assisted by Serenity Knott (2).  15:33 Knutson (8) scored again assisted by Rylie Starkson.

8:31 of second period Starkson (10) tallied a goal, assisted by Alli Velander (1) and John Marshall scored a goal to make it 5-3 after two periods.

The Rockets did tie the game after scoring two goals 14:16 and with 50 seconds to go in the game but Haley Lang scored the game winner with 9 seconds to go in the game with assists by Knutson (4) and Starkson (11).

Faribault outshot John Marshall 39-30.  In the first period they had a 17-7 advantage in the second period 15-12 and were outshot in the third period 11-7.

Junior goalie Mikayla Bohner picked up her 11th win while stopping 25 shots.

Rochester Mayo and Austin skated to a 2-2 overtime tie.

Worthington is the other team scheduled to be in the showcase event at the Austin Riverside Arena.
