Faribault Mayor Kevin Voracek stopped by the KDHL Studio today and announced Heritage Days will be organizing a Community Parade during the Blue Collar Festival in downtown Faribault.

The community parade will occur at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2020.  By "community" the Mayor explained they will not be paying various units to be in the parade.

During their Zoom meeting last week the Heritage Days Committee did talk about making the route of the parade end closer to the downtown area where the stage for the music portion of the Blue Collar Festival is located.

No firm route decisions have been made yet.  There have also been discussions about  having local first responders and health care workers honored as Grand Marshals.  A perfect fit, in my opinion, for a community parade.

You might recall the June Heritage Days events were cancelled by the Heritage Days Board of Directors.

Voracek also told listeners of the 8:05 a.m. Report on KDHL the Blue Collar Festival Board is still working out details of the August celebration and may extend it to 4 or 5 days.  Currently the plan is for a 3 day event.

Friday there could be a Chamber Main Street Car Cruise with a band playing downtown.

Saturday would feature the Heritage Days Community Parade, more live music, an art market.

Food vendors will be downtown.

The Faribault Mayor called the event, "A great week for Faribault."
