FCC & FEMA Testing Nationwide Alert System Wednesday
All your bells and whistles will probably go off around 1:20 pm Wednesday (10/4) afternoon when the FCC and FEMA conduct a nationwide alert system test.
The scheduled test will include the Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts. The wireless portion of the test will be directed to all cell phones, with the EAS portion of the test being sent to radios and televisions.
What makes this test different from the regularly occurring EAS tests, is that they will be triggered at the federal level -- sending to all radios and TVs at the same time across the entire nation. This will only be the seventh time the test has been done at this level. The wireless system is being tested nationwide for just the third time.
