The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reminds folks to sign up as soon as possible if planning on taking a firearms safety class this spring. The class scheduled for Dodge County is already full. Those born after December 31, 1979 must take a DNR safety training course and receive a certificate of completion before purchasing a license to hunt.

Upcoming classes in our area are March 27-April 7 at Ahlman's Firearms Shop in Morristown in Rice County. The class will meet at 6PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Waseca County classes will run April 10-May 1 at the JWP High School in Janesville on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6:30PM.

Steele County will be the setting for a Firearms Safety Online Field Day for those who have completed the Hunter Course on-line program. This event will be May 20 at 8:30AM and the 20 Rifle and Pistol Club of Medford.

You can find a complete list of hunter education and safety classes at the DNR web site.
