Wednesday morning NBC News estimated "that at least 159.8 million Americans voted in the 2020 election, the largest number of voters in a U.S. presidential election in history." Voter turnout was huge and interest in the election was off the charts. Most Americans tuned in to watch the coverage as the polls starting closing across the country, and no matter what side you voted for, you probably wanted a drink at some point - and you weren't alone!

The number of people voting wasn't the only thing that was at an all-time high. Google Trends tweeted that there have never been as many searches for "liquor store near me" as there was on election night. See the graph below.

Booze wasn't the only thing Americans were Googling, searches for "fries near me" reached record levels and at one point on Tuesday night "Chinese food near me" was the third most searched thing in the country. Google Trends says the most searched item around the entire world on Tuesday was "election".
