Gunman in Southern Minnesota Shootings At-Large
Geneva, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities in Freeborn County are looking for a gunman suspected in two shootings that occurred early Saturday morning.
The Freeborn County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to the report of shots being fired at Geneva Bar and Grill in Geneva, MN shortly before 1 a.m. Responding deputies found several people fleeing the area.
Authorities spoke with the remaining patrons and learned a fight involving about 10 people had broken out inside of the bar. The altercation moved out to a parking lot when a man, who has not yet been identified, fired two gunshots into the air from a handgun then left the scene on foot.
Officials say the second shooting occurred about two blocks from the bar when one of the vehicles that had left the altercation let a man cross the street. The driver told authorities he heard the sound of four gunshots hitting his vehicle after he let the man cross, one of the rounds struck and deflated his rear passenger tire.
The driver’s description of the shooter matched the description given by witnesses of the fight and shooting at the bar, the sheriff’s office says. The two occupants of the vehicle were not hit by gunfire and no one was hurt during the bar shooting.
The suspect has not yet been arrested. The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office says the shootings are isolated incidents and that there is not a danger to the public.
