Domestic Disturbance Call Leads to Fatal Police Shooting in SW MN
Marshall, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has sent a team of agents to southwestern Minnesota to investigate a fatal police shooting.
The Marshall Police Department issued a statement today concerning the incident, which began with a police response to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in Marshall around 2:40 AM. The report says the first officer to arrive at the scene came upon a man actively stabbing a woman.
Marshall Police say, that after making contact with the man, the officer attempted to subdue him with a taser, but shots ended up being fired during the officer's contact with the individual. Following the gunfire, the officer attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The news release says the woman was airlifted to a hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. At the last report, she was listed in critical condition.
