We're getting to that time of year where fresh fruits and veggies are in abundance around Minnesota. If you have a garden in your backyard or if you're looking for the right time to go to your local farm to pick fresh produce, I have some of the fruits and veggies that are ready to go in August.

My husband and I have a little garden in our backyard. We tried these new things called cucamelons and they've been going absolutely crazy. We have too many! I feel like there's always that one plant that goes nuts, though.

I found a cheat sheet about when different produce will be ready to be picked in Minnesota on a site called PickYourOwn.org. I used that to create a list for you of the 16 foods that are ready to be picked in August.

Apples

Yes, really, some apples are ready to be picked starting in August. The varieties that will be ready are Mantet and Oriole (those are ready early to mid-August), Beacon and State Fair (ready in mid-August), and Zestar and Paulared are ready in late August.
