June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month
The people behind the Alzheimer's movement have done an excellent job in making the awareness of the affliction. When I was growing up it was referred to as hardening of the arteries. I was told the story of my grandfather locking his step dad in a small one room house every night. My great grandfather had started to wander around at night and the home was a block from the Apple River. It sounds cruel today but it was more the norm back then. Grandpa's plan back fired though as my great grandfather decided to light a wood burning stove in the house. The problem is that is was an oil stove. That was it and my great grandfather was sent to a home.
