Your opportunity to learn more about amateur radio is coming up Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25 in Southern Minnesota.Members of the Owatonna Steele County Amateur Radio club or OSCAR along with the Viking Amateur Radio Society will be taking part in the Amateur Radio Field Day exercises. OSCAR will be set up at Willow Creek School in Owatonna and the Viking group will be broadcasting from the Waseca County Fairgrounds Both groups will begin broadcasting at 1PM Saturday and broadcast continually till 1PM on Sunday.

The public is invited to stop at either location and learn more. There are over 725,000 licensed hams in the United States with many local clubs that you can learn more and share information. Hams can use their radios for enjoyment in talking with people all around the world. They can also play a vital role during emergency situations.
