Long time sports writer and columnist, LeMar Arden Nelson, passed away on the morning of Thursday, January 9th. Nelson had been in the hospital since the beginning of the New Year after falling and passed away due to health complications during his recovery.

Nelson, who was also a former teacher in Chester, SD and in Blooming Prairie, where he taught, coached and was the Principal for 35 years until he retired in 1992. As an avid sports fan, Nelson decided after retirement that wanted to write for the local paper and did so for 28 years. For the Steele County Time, Nelson's weekly column know as "Outside the Lines", his last column, which was titled "Another decade upon us", was published two weeks ago on the January 1st edition of the Steele County Times.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Worlein Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2020 at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, MN. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.
