Lots Of Thanksgiving Travelers
According to AAA a lot of Americans plan on traveling this Thanksgiving holiday. AAA is projecting around 50,9 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more away from home this season. That's a 3.3% increase from last year. On the down side, AAA is estimating around 330,000 motorists will have vehicle problems such as lockouts and flat tires.
89% of the Thanksgiving travelers will go by car. Around 45.5 million will do so which is an increase of 3.2% from last year. An estimated 5% more than last year will travel by air this weekend. Air travelers will pay on average 23% less than last season.Travel by trains and other modes such as buses and such is expected to be up 1.1% from last Thanksgiving.
Also increasing this Thanksgiving is the price of gas. It'll be the highest since 2014 when a gallon average $2.80. Last Thanksgiving it was just $2.14.
Those taking vacations over the holiday weekend are heading in many cases to warmer weather. The top 5 spots are Orlando, Anaheim, New York City, Honolulu, and Las Vegas.
