The Steele County Historical Society President Jerry Ganfield and newly hired Executive Director James Lundgren were guests on AM 1390's Talk of the Town. Lundgren said his visiting of historic sites as a young fellow served as the inspiration to enter a career involved with history.  He has served as Executive Director of the Olmstad County Historical Society and also the Rice County Historical Society and the Blue Earth County Historical Society. He has a particular interest in pre-statehood Minnesota and also pre-Civil War military history.

Some events coming up at the Steele County History Center include another edition of History Uncorked. A chance to learn of a past incident while enjoying a glass of wine, beer or pop. Murder on the Straight river will be the next topic and will be presented Thursday, February 22 at 7PM. Tickets are $10 for members and $15 for non members. Murder on the Straight River dates from1878 when Claude Van Alstyne quarreled with the son of his employer and wound up striking the man with an ice pick. This took place during the ice harvest.

On Saturday, March 17 Romantica will be performing at the History Center. Doors open at 6:30PM and music starts at 7:30PM. tickets are $15 for members and $20 for non members.
