New Go-Karting on Ice Experience in Minnesota Will Give You an Adrenaline Rush
You've heard about go-karting, but what about go-karting on ice? It's a new experience coming to Minnesota this winter and it sounds like such an adrenaline rush! If you're a racing fan or an adrenaline junky this would be perfect for you to check out.
Epic Kart Racing is the name of the company and they're in Stillwater, Minnesota. They won't reveal their official location until they're ready to open though. Their website says the company is run by "a group of long-time go-kart racing enthusiasts". Also, based on some digging on this company's Facebook page, it looks like a couple that's part of that group recently bought land in Stillwater and that's what they're converting into a huge ice go-kart racing track.
So far they haven't had luck with mother nature, unfortunately. Only in Your State says that the temperature needs to be at 20 degrees or colder for multiple days in a row in order for the ice to be all good for go-kart racing. So far December has cooperated but I'm a little worried for them about this Wednesday when it's supposed to be in the 50s.
As of right now, they plan to open for early access the first weekend of January. If you want to be included in the early access group check out more details on their website. And then after that, they plan to be open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
It'll cost you $29.97 to drive one of the carts for 10 minutes. There's also a fee if you need to rent a helmet. In order to drive, you need to be 12 or older and 4' 10" or taller. You'll be given instructions on how to drive the kart and a safety briefing. And come prepared, dress warm, because if it's cold enough to freeze the ice it's going to be a little chilly when you're flying around the course!
Speaking of being prepared for cold weather, does your car have all of the items in it that you should have in the winter? There are 10 and you can check them out below.
