The Northfield Raiders boys basketball team had their season end tonight following a hard fought 57-54 loss to the Austin Packers in the Section 1 Class 3A Championship game.  The contest was played at the Rochester Mayo Civic Center Arena and the crowd was treated to a well played game in most phases.  Meaning free throw shooting was no very good for either team.

I'm guessing if you would have told Northfield Head Coach Andy Berkvam that his team would have a 14 rebound advantage and turn the ball over just 13 times he would say they probably win.  But the Packers had just a wee bit more offense and the Raiders missed 14 free throws.  They missed more free throws than they made in the game going 12 of 26.  Austin didn't exactly put on a clinic either going 13 for 26.

Packers Medi Obang and Agwa Nywesh each had 15 points to lead their team.

The Raiders leading scorer was sophomore Kip Schetnan with 19 points.  Senior Mason Zick ended his career with 10 points and 15 rebounds.  Seniors Blake Christensen and Jackson Schlaak (both heading to Hamline University in St. Paul next year) tallied 7 points each.

The Raiders had 43 rebounds and the Packers 29.
