Plans For A New Owatonna Playground

The Mike Hansen Washer Board Tournament takes place Saturday, March 17 at the Owatonna Eagles. Singles competition starts at 9:30AM and doubles at noon. Proceeds go to the Owatonna Park and Rec Scholarship Program.

Also happening Saturday at the Eagles will be a Silent Auction for the We All Play Inclusive Playground Miracle League Field. This auction runs 3-5:30PM. The playground is special as it is designed for those with physical disabilities and the field has a special surface with painted bases rather than those stick up out of the ground. One of the organizers Nolan Ahrens explains further.

Hopes are for the park and field to be built at Manthey Park with a possible completion date of later this year or early 2019. A turnkey set up such as this would run around $800,000 with hope that labor and support from the community would help bring the cost down.
