Peyton Robb is still making an impact at Nebraska even through his wrestling season was cut off just short of competing in the NCAA championships at US Bank Stadium. The Owatonna High School graduate and red-shirt freshman with the Huskers was named the Outstanding Newcomer Award winner for male student-athletes at a virtual awards event.

Robb compiled a 20-6 record for the 2019-2020 season. His five regular season losses were all to ranked opponents by a grand total of seven points. He finished third in the Big Ten tournament, which included an upset victory over the number-two seeded wrestler in the quarterfinals, qualifying for the NCAA championships.

Robb spoke with KRFO radio back in March minutes after learning of the NCAA's decision to cancel the tournament.

In reaction to the award, Robb said, "I'm grateful for this award, but more than that I'm grateful for those who supported me since the moment I became a Cornhusker." He also thanked his parents, coaches and teammates.

He added, "We'll be back and ready again next year. Go Big Red." Robb is majoring in nutrition, health, and exercise science.
