Once a Husky, always a Husky. Her time as an Owatonna Husky is not over, but OHS senior Grace Wolfe is also looking forward to her time as a St. Cloud State University Husky after signing a National Letter of Intent to play Division I college hockey.

OHS girls hockey coach Tony Cloud, who is entering this third year in the program, said in a email to AM 1390 KRFO, "I am very excited for Grace. She has been a very big part of our team since eighth grade. She has been the captain of our team and a driving force in our success the past two seasons."

"She has worked incredibly hard to achieve her goal of playing D1 hockey and will be the second player to go on a to play D1 from Owatonna girls hockey. I look forward to continuing to watch her play as a St. Cloud State Husky."

I have had the pleasure to watch her grow in her role as a team leader while covering many of the Huskies games on the radio. I really enjoyed talking to her for the interview included in this story. I could hear her excitement over the opportunity to come and her enjoyment from what her career has already brought her. Wolfe talks about how the recruiting process worked over a summer marred by COVID restrictions and how her goals evolved from her youth playing days.

She also said she looks to reach out to Lindsay Macy, the other D1 player who wore the blue and silver in her prep days. Macy is now the coach of the Finlandia women's team in Michigan.

The OHS girls hockey Twitter account, @OHSGirlsHockey, offered kudos to Wolfe as well, tweeting, "Congratulations to our very own Grace Wolfe as she will continue her hockey career playing D1 at St. Cloud State! We are so proud of her...You will always be a Husky!"
