Steele County’s Favorite Joint Will Be Closed This Saturday
I'm sorry to say everyone's favorite Steele County hangout will be closed this Saturday in honor of the 4th of July.
The Steele County Hazardous Waste Facility and Landfill will be closed Saturday, July 3rd, so employees can enjoy the holiday weekend.
In other words, if you end up blowing up something with fireworks (highly not recommended!), you won't be able to dispose of it until Monday at 7:30 am. Unless you happen to ignite hazardous material (extremely not recommended!!), then you'll have to wait until Thursday at 9 am.
Landfill Hours:
Monday-Friday: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
Saturday: 8 am to 1 pm
*Hazardous Waste Facility Hours:
Thursday: 9 am to 3 pm
First and Third Saturday by appointment: 9 am to Noon
*Only Open May Through September
Steele County residents can drop off household items for free, but large loads are by appointment only.
The landfill also has a recycling station where people can recycle numerous types of papers, cans, and bottles. They also have a tank where residents may recycle used motor oil and used oil filters free of charge. (Perfect after a weekend on the boat!)
If you have questions on disposable items, check out this extensive alphabetical list. If you have questions about something that is not listed, call 507-444-7475 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 am to 5 pm.
The landfill is located at 9420 64th Avenue SE in Blooming Prairie.
