The Most Hated NFL Team in Minnesota Shouldn’t Be a Huge Surprise
The Vikings have fans all across Minnesota, but the other NFL team most Vikings fans dislike the most isn't exactly a surprise.
The rivalry the Minnesota Vikings have with other NFL teams, especially those in their home division NFC North, has been around well before the advent of social media. But the proliferation of sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram can help confirm what we all suspected when it comes to Minnesota's dislike of the Vikings' opponents.
A new survey from guys over at sportsbetting.ag looked at geotagged online data in the last month, tracking tweets, hashtags, and direct keyword phrases about "hating" or disliking a particular team. Over 200,000 tweets were tracked, which all helped create a map of the Most Hated NFL Team in Each State.
And while the Vikings have had some pretty heated rivalries with teams like the New Orleans Saints, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Chicago Bears and even the Detroit Lions, none of them come close to the Most Hated NFL Team in Minnesota:
Yep, it's not exactly a shock that the team from Wisconsin is the least-loved here in Minnesota, is it? But it's not just here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, though. As the map also shows, the Packers are the Most Hated NFL Team in Illinois (which makes sense seeing as that's the Bears' home turf) but also in both North and South Dakota (what's up with that?)
Maybe it's history that has led to this hatred of the Packers. According to ClutchPoints.com: The Vikings and Packers rivalry dates back to October 1961, when the Packers beat the then-new Vikings 37-7. The two teams have faced off 119 times with the Packers leading the all-time series 62-54-3. The Vikings do own the longest win streak in the rivalry, beating the Packers seven straight times from 1975-1978.
