The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reminds fishermen that fish houses need to be removed from Southern Minnesota lakes by the end of the day today, March 5. This with houses in the northern part of the state have until Monday, March 19 to get their houses off the lake.

The DNR also announces new regulations for fishing northern pike when the season opens on Saturday, May 12. The new fishing regulations have three zones to address the different characteristics of pike populations in the state. The regulations are meant to restore pike populations.  In Southern Minnesota on inland waters anglers will be limited to 2 fish with a minimum size of 24 inches. The new regulations do not affect border waters fishing regulations.

You can find the pike changes for other parts of Minnesota and other changes in fishing regulations for the upcoming season by going to the Minnesota DNR  web site.
