Alma, WI (KROC-AM News) - A trial date has been set in the case of a Rochester man accused of murdering a Wabasha area woman.

Jury selection is currently scheduled to begin the week of December 6th in the case of 49-year-old Randall Merrick at the Buffalo County Courthouse in Alma, Wisconsin. Merrick is charged with first-degree murder and a felony count of hiding a corpse in connection with the death of Beth Johnson.

Merrick was arrested in Rochester last June on an arrest warrant charging him with killing Johnson sometime between Christmas Day in 2016 and early March in 2017. His arrest occurred around the same time her body was found in a northern Twin Cities suburb.

Prosecutors say the couple, who shared a trailer home just outside Nelson Wisconsin, had a history of domestic violence. Merrick remains jailed in the Buffalo County Jail on $1 million conditional bail. His next court appearance has been scheduled on July 12th.
