20-Year-Woman Tragically Killed In Home Explosion in Southern Minnesota
A young woman was killed in a home explosion over the weekend in Lexington Township in Le Sueur County while house-sitting for another family.
The explosion happened around 11:30 pm Saturday night, according to a press release from the local sheriff.
After firefights put out the resulting blaze, they found the body of the 20-year-old victim in the basement.
As mentioned earlier, the young woman was house-sitting and taking care of pets for the homeowners while they were out of town. According to the release, it is unclear if any animals were injured during the explosion.
No cause has been identified at this moment, but the State Fire Marshal's Office is currently investigating.
Authorities have not officially named the victim, but friends and family have identified her as Kailey Mach.
According to the Star Tribune, Mach graduated from Tri-City Untied High School in 2019 and earned a scholarship to attend Augsburg University, where she was to graduate next year.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office will formally identify the victim and determine the exact cause of death.
