Owatonna graduates Tim Braaten, Joe Kiley and Laura Kenow join former coach Dale Timm and community member Todd Hale in the 2016 OHS Athletic Hall of Fame class.

The Owatonna High School Athletic Hall of Fame committee has announced the latest five inductees. Biographical information was sent to KRFO radio.

Tim Braaten is a 1964 Owatonna High School graduate. He lettered in football, basketball and baseball, and was a captain in all three sports. He played football at Concordia-Moorhead. Braaten's parents, Stan and Glenda, were named Fans of the Century for attending every home game for nearly 50 years. Tim Braaten lives in Texas. He has served as a police chief in several communities.

Joe Kiley graduated in 1978 after lettering in football and track for the Indians. He was named to the All-Century football squad and played for St. John's University where he was a captain in his senior year. Kiley played on several rugby teams after his college days. He lives in Edina.

Laura Kenow is a 1984 graduate of OHS where she lettered in tennis, basketball and softball, and was a captain in all three. She won the Big Nine No. 1 tennis title in 1983 and is a member of the OHS Tennis Hall of Fame. Kenow was named the female athlete of the year as a senior. She played basketball and softball at Gustavus Adolphus College and later coached softball at Linfield College in Oregon. Kenow lives in Oregon, where she writes, teaches and does athletic training.

Dale Timm was on the coaching staff for each of Owatonna's state baseball championships, as an assistant in 1974 and as the head coach in 1988. He was named Big Nine coach of the year four times and was presented with the state coach of the year honor in 1988. Timm also served as an assistant football coach for 10 years. He worked as a KRFO play-by-play announcer for football and basketball from 1967-85. Timm lives in Arizona.

Longtime KRFO radio owner Todd Hale rounds out the 2016 hall of fame class. As a lifelong booster of Owatonna and OHS athletics, he was dedicated to covering sports on the radio. Hale became one of the first announcers for high school hockey on the radio in southern Minnesota. He hosted a cable TV show that often featured high school sports. Hale continues to write a weekly column in the Owatonna People's Press and lives in Owatonna.

These individuals will be honored on Friday, September 9, at the Owatonna High School at 3PM. This event is open to the public. The formal induction will occur that evening during Owatonna's home football game against Rochester John Marshall.

The OHS Athletic Hall of Fame was formed in 1995. This year's group will bring the total number of members to 110.
