Target stores pulled a Father's Day card from its shelves after receiving complaints about the design on their Twitter page. The card pictures an African American couple on the front with the phrase "Baby Daddy." The inside has a nice verse dedicated to a loving father and husband.

The front of the card is considered offensive as "baby daddy" has been taken to mean a man who a woman has a child with, never married, and are no longer involved. Unfortunately, I have seen that this is also interchangeable with a "dead-beat" dad, someone who is also not involved with the child/ren and may or may not pay anything for child support.

Target pulled the cards, and shortly after, the publishing company, American Greetings, offered an apology and said they were going to be pulling the cards from every retailer that stocked it.

"This particular card was created for, and addressed to, a loving husband — which the inside copy makes clear," American Greetings said in a statement. "However, we now see that the front page, taken out of context, can communicate an unintentional meaning that we are strongly against perpetuating and is not consistent with our company purpose and values."
