Best 10 Places to Get Pancakes in Southern Minnesota: Pt.3, #'s 6-4
#6: Little Oscar’s Restaurant, Hampton
Established in 1960, Little Oscar’s was originally a 24-hour diner, but these days they are a diner specializing in breakfast and lunch that’s open 6 am – 3 pm every day.
Because of this, they really know how to dish some classic and very yummy dishes, especially for breakfast and they have weekly unique specials.
What has caught my eye looking through their Facebook page is that they currently have a Banana pancake, but earlier this month they were serving a red velvet pancake!!
Their unique thing is that you can add meat to your pancake! While I’m not one to mix sweetness and meat together it is kinda intriguing and I bet a lot of people do love it! They also always serve Blueberry, Buckwheat, Buttermilk, and Chocolate Chip Pancakes.
#5: J’s Restaurant, Burnsville
This old mom & pop kind of place that was established in 1973, really and truly does make All-American mouth-watering homemade food from scratch.
I have also been to J’s restaurant numerous amount of times and for a reason: because their pancakes are DELICIOUS! And as stated above, they may be an old mom & pop restaurant, but god dang their food is good.
They don’t do too much with pancakes, but on the menu, they serve two large buttermilk pancakes with butter and syrup, but you can add blueberries, strawberries, and chocolate chips.
What they are really known for is their specialty combo meals like The Barnyard (Three eggs Scrambled with tender pieces of diced ham. Served with two pancakes butter and hot maple syrup), or Old Faithful (Two eggs prepared to order, sausage links, or patties. Served with crispy hash browns and toast).
#4: Perkins, Owatonna, Faribault, Mankato, Apple Valley etc..
Okay, I know this isn’t a local small business, but hey, you can’t deny the beautiful bliss it is when eating a pancake from Perkins!
And I mean how can I not include Perkins when they have breakfast all day, and at certain locations, starting at 9pm they have their endless pancake special where you can eat as many pancakes as you want!
