Finstad Declares Win In Minnesota GOP Congressional Primary
St Paul (KROC AM News) - It appears Brad Finstad is the winner in the GOP primary election held Tuesday for the First Congressional District seat that was left vacant due to the death of Congressman Jim Hagedorn.
The Minnesota Secretary of State’s office says all 697 precincts in the district have reported their results.
The results show Finstad leading all Republican candidates with 13,835 votes. Jeremy Munson is second with 13,447. Hagedorn’s widow Jennifer Carnahan was a distant third with 2,918 votes.

Finstad issued a statement Wednesday morning declaring victory.
The Associated Press is reporting Finstad’s margin of victory is just over 1-percentage point which is enough to rule out an automatic recount.
Former Hormel CEO Jeff Ettinger won the Democratic primary as he collected more than 60-percent of the votes. He and the Republican winner will meet again in the August special election to determine who will finish Hagedorn’s term.
