Huskies Girls Notch Basketball and Hockey Victories

The Owatonna girls basketball team opened its home schedule with a dominant 88-69 win over Mankato West Tuesday. The OHS girls hockey team held on for a 2-1 victory over Apple Valley.

The hoops team improved to 2-0 in the Big Nine led by Sydney Schultz 26-point performance. Jenna Zeman added 22. Owatonna goes to Lakeville South Thursday, December 7 at 7PM for an important section game on Kat Kountry 105FM.

Owatonna's hockey win came on Kiley Friedrichs' mid-second period goal. Margo Achterkirch scored a first-period power play goal as well. Laura Ebeling made 30 saves, including stopping a penalty shot in the first period. The Huskies go to Albert Lea Thursday for a 7PM face off on KRFO AM1390.

Ethan Arett of the Westfield wrestling team earned his 100th career win during a meet at Blooming Prairie High School.
