Huskies Introduce New Girls’ Soccer Coach
Owatonna High School Activities Director Ryan Swanson announced Wednesday that Nate Gendron will be the school's new girls' soccer coach, pending school board approval. Gendron, a 2006 OHS graduate, will take over for Matt Roddy who stepped down after last season after about ten years on the job.
Swanson reports that Gendron has coached the last five seasons as the girls' junior varsity coach. He worked with the Owatonna Soccer Association from 2007-2015. Gendron is also an assistant on the Huskies' girls' lacrosse team. Swanson states, "Owatonna High School is looking forward to Nate's leadership skills and his innate ability to build strong relationships with our student-athletes as he guides our girls into the 2018 season and beyond."
Gendron was a three-year starter and team captain on the pitch for the OHS boys' soccer team under current coach Bob Waypa. He graduated from Luther College in 2010 with a social work degree and earned his Masters at Minnesota State University in Mankato and works at Fernbrook Family Center.
