Learn All About Your Genealogy Through A Minnesota History Center Workshop

The class is titled "Genealogy 101: Establishing the Roots of Your Family Tree." The day begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. There are three consecutive sessions that are each an hour long. 

In the first hour-long session, one will learn about basic genealogy methods and resources. Tom Rice, a past officer of the Minnesota Genealogical Society and the Irish Genealogical Society International, presents this session focused on the foundations of the practice. 

The second session focuses on genealogical research in foreign records. Bob Johnson, a professional genealogist and attorney who has been active for over forty years, will walk the attendees through this period. He'll emphasize where to begin your search and how to answer early questions.

The workshop ends with a session on the ABCs of DNA. J.H. Fonkert, who has taught at the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy, and published more than 80 research and teaching articles, explains how to take a test, interpret the results and answer your genealogical questions.

I've personally always wondered what my lineage was. It is a captivating topic. My mother always told me I came from royalty, and it makes sense. I do think I deserve a crown.
