The Huskies will meet Rochester John Marshall for the third time this season on Thursday, February 18, in the quarterfinal round of the Section 1AA tournament at 7PM on KRFO AM 1390.

No. 5 seed Owatonna at No. 4 seed Rochester JM, 7PM at the Rec Center

JM swept Owatonna 7-1 and 5-1. The Huskies outshot JM each time. The Rockets are led by senior goalie Brady Meyers with a .930 saves percentage and 1.71 goals against average. He has four shutouts. Owatonna sophomore Ryan Johnson has stormed onto the scene with six shutouts in just 12 varsity starts. His goals against is 1.42 and saves percentage is at .917.

John Marshall (19-6) has 14 seniors and is led in scoring by Brady Dahl with 22 goals and 27 assists for 49 points. Isaac Lamppa is 25-23, 48 points and Conner Lee is at 12-26, 38 points. All three are seniors.

OHS senior Noah Scheid leads the scoring list with 26-23 for 49 points. Sophomore Tyler Wencl has 9-26 for 35 points and junior Adam Rehman is 9-21 for 30 points. Senior defense man Kade Friedrichs is next with 11-13 for 24 points. The Huskies (15-9-1) have seven seniors.

JM has won nine of their past 10 games and just captured their first Big Nine title since 2004. They are outscoring their opponents by about a 5-2 average.  Five of their six losses have been by one goal, two of those in overtime. The Huskies finished third in the conference standings and have won nine of their past 11 games. OHS is 4-4-1 in games decided by one-goal and is outscoring their opponents by a 4-2.5 average.

No. 8 seed Dodge County at No. 1 seed Lakeville North, 7PM at Ames Arena

North (19-5-1) is the three-time defending section champs and won the state tournament last winter. The Panthers are on a nine-game winning streak and have won 15 of 16. They outscore opponents by a 5-2 margin. The Wildcats (4-21) have lost seven of their last eight and allow about six goals per game.

No. 6 seed Rochester Mayo at No. 3 seed Lakeville South, 7PM at Hasse Arena

The Cougars (14-10-1) whipped Mayo 13-0 in a mid-season meeting but come into the playoffs having lost four of their past five. Mayo (14-10-1) is 1-2-1 in their past four. When the Spartans lose that will close out the 50-year coaching career of Lorne Grosso, who started the hockey program at Mayo.

No. 7 seed Rochester Century at No. 2 Farmington, 7PM at Schmitz-Maki Arena

The Tigers (15-8-1) are only scoring three goals per game but are holding opponents to about 2.5. Season highlights include a sweep of Lakeville North. Farmington beat both JM and Mayo but did not play Century. The Panthers (10-14-1) dropped the last two games of the regular season, coming right after a four-game winning streak.
