The Owatonna girls soccer club earned its third straight victory with a narrow 2-1 win at Rochester Mayo Thursday. The Huskies are 5-1 in the Big Nine and 6-4 overall. They play at Austin Tuesday, September 24 in a match that will be carried on Kat Kountry 105FM and on the Kat Kountry 105 app.

On Thursday, Ela Breuer scored about seven minutes into the game, "a beautiful goal from the corner of the box," according to the @OHSGirlsSoccer_ Twitter account. Ezra Oien added a goal about midway through the first half with as assist from Kaia Elstad. Mayo went on the board with 17 minutes remaining.

Northfield leads the Big Nine girls soccer standings at 4-0-1. Owatonna and Mankato West are each 5-1. The Huskies play at the Raiders on Monday, September 30 in a match that will be carried on AM 1390 KRFO.

The OHS boys ended with their fourth tie of the conference schedule after a 1-1 overtime draw against the Spartans Thursday at the Lincoln Soccer Complex in Owatonna. @Otown_Bsoccer said, "1-1 tie against a very good Mayo team tonight. Asad Ali with the goal assisted by (Sam Henson). Riley Voracek with a very good game in net."

Owatonna is 2-1-4 in conference matches and 3-3-4 overall. Northfield and Austin are unbeaten in Big Nine games.

Owatonna volleyball dropped three straights to Mankato East Thursday night. The Huskies had a late lead slip away in the second set and the Cougars went on an 8-0 run midway through the third set. Match scores were 25-21, 26-24, 25-13.

OHS had a balanced attacked with Anna Vetsch setting up Kaitlyn Madole, Jenna Gleason, Emily Hagen, and Lanie Schuster for about six or seven kills apiece. East put up a good block with a 6-foot-1 and 6-foot-2 interior defense. The Huskies go to Albert Lea Tuesday, September 24.
