The Huskies won their second straight section title at their home gym Friday night. Five OHS gymnasts qualified for the individual portion of next weekend's state meet.

Owatonna had the high score in each event and a team total of 147.925. Farmington finished second with 144.275. OHS started on their rotation on the beam and had to count a couple of falls right away, but Owatonna coach Tom Smith was pleased with the team's overall performance of 36.175.

The Huskies were solid on the floor exercise (37.325) and excelled on the vault (37.625) with the top three overall scores. Owatonna ended the night on the uneven bars (36.750). The Huskies are the No. 2 rated team in the state this year. OHS finished sixth at the state meet last year. The AA state competition is Friday, February 24, at 6PM at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion.

Three Huskies earned section championships and at least two athletes qualified for state in each event. Becca Olson won the all-around and beam, was second on the bars and third on vault. Lindsay Bangs was first on vault, second on floor, and third on bars and the all-around. Sydney Kretlow was second on vault, third on the floor exercise and fourth in the all-around.

Ali An was fourth on the bars and Lucy Macius finished fourth on the balance beam. The individual state meet is Saturday, February 25.

Owatonna was also named the academic section champions. A big crowd filled the OHS gym, which hosted the event for the second straight year.
