The Huskies won their game on the Iron Range on Friday night and play at Orono on Saturday at 2PM. The Blooming Prairie and Triton boys will meet in the final of the Cobra Tournament.

The Owatonna girls hockey team beat Eveleth-Gilbert 6-2 Friday at the Hippodrome with a balanced attack. Betty VonRuden scored twice, while Meghan Rethemeier, Reagan Shallau, Margo Achterkirch and Jamie Davison added single goals. Laura Ebeling got the win in goal. Asia Buryska played the final four minutes and made several saves. Owatonna out-shot the Golden Bears 36-18. The Huskies (3-2) play at No. 8A Orono on Saturday at 2PM.

The Dodge County girls' hockey team edged Holy Family 5-4.

In boys basketball, Blooming Prairie opened their season with a narrow 49-47 win over Kenyon-Wanamingo. Triton topped Schaeffer Academy 68-45. The Blossoms and Cobras will meet in the final of the Cobra Tournament on Saturday.

Medford lost at St. Peter on Friday night.

The basketball season opens Saturday night for NRHEG, who plays at Redwood Valley at 5:30PM.

Owatonna boys hockey begins its season Saturday at 1PM against No. 4A St. Paul Academy and the Summit School at the Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna. Radio coverage on Kat Kountry 105FM begins at 12:45PM.
