Owatonna junior Collin Pederson had a career night, scoring four goals in a 6-2 hockey victory on Dudley Otto Rink Thursday night over Red Wing. The game was worth four points in the Big Nine standings, boosting OHS into second place. The Huskies have another four-pointer at Faribault Saturday at 7:15 pm on KRFO AM 1390 and the KRFO app.

Sophomore Dom Valento put the Huskies up early, netting his team-leading 12th goal just 91 seconds into the game. Brody Homan assisted.

The Pederson Show started in the second period. He scored back-to-back goals 20 seconds apart according to the score sheet on the Hockey Hub website. Aaron Bangs assisted on the first and Wyatt Oldefendt helped on the second one. Zach Kubicek scored 48 seconds later giving the Huskies three goals in 1:08 and a commanding 4-0 lead 6:48 into the middle period. Valento and Luke Kubicek assisted.

Pederson's hat trick tally came at 1:51 of the third period. Red Wing took the shutout off the board with a pair of power play goals late in the period. Pederson put an end to the scoring for the 6-2 victory with his fourth goal of the night at 13:49. Valento and Zach Kubicek assisted on each of his third period markers.

Owatonna (10-5, 6-2 Big Nine) out shot the Wingers 37-24. Zach Wiese made 22 saves to even his record at 5-5 for the season. The Huskies went 0-for-3 on the power play.

Saturday's game at Faribault (9-4-1, 3-3-1) is the only meeting of the season between the Huskies and Falcons, thus it is worth four points in the conference standings. Northfield leads the conference at 8-2 for 20 points. Owatonna's 6-2 record is worth 18 points. Albert Lea (7-2) and Century (6-0) are tied for third with 16 points.

The Huskies two conference losses have come to Northfield 4-3 and Century 1-0 and will play each again this season. Owatonna's only conference titles came in 1991-92 and 1992-93.
