The annual Pheasants For Hospitalized Vets benefit auction is this Saturday, September 30. Spread the word as the auction is usually late in October. The doors open at the Owatonna VFW at 5PM for the silent auction which runs till around 6:45PM. The live auction begins at 7PM conducted by Auctioneers Born and Kath. The kitchen will be open at 5PM till the start of the live auction.

Funds raised go to purchase pheasants. Pheasant meals are then prepared in numerous facilities in Minnesota. Last year around 1,800 vets in hospitals and homes received meals. The meals are served from early October into November. A pheasant costs around $11 and 1 pheasant is equal to 2 meals.

The auction benefits veterans programs such as the Disabled Deer Hunt, Trolling for Troops and the Disable Turkey Hunt.

Items up for bids include gift baskets and also a number of meal packages for groups. Credit cards are accepted. Steele County has been number one in the state for many many years. Last years auction raised around $17,000.
